THE PLOT:

It is the year 1999, the monsters of the world have been finally contained on Monster Island. Where they can never escape and live in peace. A huge space station orbits Earth, but something is wrong, all the monsters on monster island have vanished as well as the humans that were there to study them.

Suddenly without warning several monsters appear and attack major cities around the globe. The monsters are being controled by aliens, the all female monster race called the Kilaaks.

What can the Earth do, with the people that were watching them under Kilaak control as well as the Monster will the Earth be conquered by aliens?

ZEDD'S OPINION:

Wasn't it amusing to see how the people in 1968 thought the world of 1999 would look. How wrong they were. But as for the movie, this is one of my favorites of the ones made in the 1960s'. It has lots of good points, tons of monsters. Interesting plot, the Kilaak's Fire Dragon was too disappointing. If you've seen it, you'll know what I'm taking about. I give DESTROY ALL MONSTERS....8 STARS

VOLTRON'S OPINION:

I agree with Zedd, but I was disappointed that they make a new monster for this movie, just rehashed old monsters from other movies, including FRANKENSTEIN CONQUERS THE WORLD and KING KONG ESCAPES. But it was highly entertaining and there is something I liked at the end, without giving it away. I give it...7 STARS

ON THE POSITIVE SIDE (+ HITS):

+ STORY (The story works, the story works well.)
+ MONSTERS (A large collection of monsters, some only seen once)
+ ALIENS (The Kilaaks were cool villians.)
+ EFFECTS (Some of the best effects up to that point)
+ DUBBING (The voice over actors did a great job)
+ ENDING (Without giving it away, a very satisfactory ending)

ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE (- MISSES):

- KILAAK'S FIRE DRAGON (Without giving it away, not impressive at all.)
- NO NEW MONSTERS (I was hoping to see at least one new monster.)

AND FINALLY....

- FAN BASED (If you aren't big on giant monster movies, then this isn't for you.)
